Offshore ReefBlocks

The ReefBlocks are crafted from environmentally friendly, plastic-free materials, ensuring harmlessness to the ecosystem while providing an ideal substrate for oyster attachment.

With weights of up to 6 tons, ReefBlocks offer a versatile solution, capable of replacing or complementing traditional armor layer rocks in scour protection designs, all while serving as habitat for fish and crustaceans.

Specially engineered and rigorously tested for stability, ReefBlocks excel even in high-velocity environments, remaining steadfast against strong currents. Their surface textures are designed to attract oyster spat, facilitating the regeneration of natural reefs."

Validated stability

  • ReefBlocks stability has been confirmed in phsyical model testing, simulating storms in the North Sea with a return period of 1 in a 100 years.
  • ReefBlock has undergone testing on sandy beds, cable protections and adjacent to monopiles.
  • Experimental results have demonstrated stability of ReefBlock. 
  • Stability has been confirmed for flow conditions, wave conditions and flow and wave conditions. 

Meeting tender requirements

Thanks to its nature inclusive design, ReefBlock meets tender specifications seamlessly. Textures and hole sizes can be customized to align with the unique requirements of each tender. Notably, ReefBlock is compatible with the offshore wind farm tender in the Dutch North Sea: IJmuiden Ver.
